Indian Country remembers the harms inflicted by colonizers, corporations, and federal authorities. But some of the greatest threats to tribal sovereignty may now come from within, as concentrated power, political favoritism, symbolic uses of culture, and colonial values reshape governance into something our ancestors would scarcely recognize.
